Kohli, Dhawan helps India in the victory with their bats:

The opener of India Shikhar Dhawan hits a brilliant century in the first match of the ODI series against Sri Lanka yesterday. His century resulted in the nine wickets victory against the struggling hosts. India won the first match with ease from the batting performance of Shikhar and Kohli. Both players played brilliantly and took India to cross the victory position.

India was quite dominant in first ODI, and that was the result of the clean sweep in test series with the Sri Lankans. They overhauled the target of 217 runs with 127 balls sparing in the bucket and having 9-wickets in their hand. Dhawan’s 132 came off from this bat in just 90 balls scoring more than run a ball. In short, he played one of the best innings from his career and won the man of the match award and also many others.

Dhawan played a great knock with 21 boundaries including three majestic sixes and seventeen fours with his bat and finished the match with 127 balls in the bucket. He scored his 11th century of his career from 71 balls only, and it was second best and quickest against the host side by an Indian opener. The first fastest was from Virender Shewaj’s bat from 66 balls back in 2009 in Rajkot.

The left-handed opener scored 197 runs partnership with his skipper who was able to score 82 runs from 70 oddballs. After winning the toss, the host was invited to bat first. They started well with the bat by scoring 150 runs in 26 overs with eight wickets in hand. After that, Indian spinners showed an excellent performance by picking up 8-wickets in no time and restricted India to just 216 runs.

While chasing a target of 217 odd runs, Indian team lost their first wicket in the fifth over of the match. Rohit Sharma was run out due to his mistake. He dropped his bat in the middle of the crease and didn’t reach the crease before the arrival of Kapugedara’s throw. After that, both players, Kohli and Dhawan knocked out Sri Lankan team in all the departments. They chased down the small target with 120+ balls in the bucket.

Dhawan is playing cricket in his best days and performing well with his bat. He has the best batting average after Kohli in the Indian team and the most reliable player from winning side. He is the news conference said, “I will continue to play well that will result in the victory of India and trying to overcome the mistakes that I have made in batting in the first ODI.” Kohli is also relying on him from other openers from past two years. They are eyeing to win the series, and they are also going to put Sri Lankan side in the qualifying stages of WC 2019.
