Sri Lankan team is eyeing for two victories out of five matches:

Sri Lankan team is currently present at the eight positions in One Day International rankings with 88 points. They have to secure their direct qualification for the upcoming World Cup 2019 by winning two matches in their upcoming series against India in their home grounds. It is five-match ODI series and they have to secure at least two victories for the direct qualification in WC19.

They are currently at 8 with 88 points and winning two matches will take them to 90 international ranking points. The West Indian team have 6 matches left in their bucket till WC19. They can get maximum 10 points in their upcoming 6 ODI matches against England and Ireland. They have to play five-match series with England and One match against Ireland weak team. The top seven sides along with the host team England will qualify directly for World Cup 2019.

If the Sri Lankan team will get only one victory in the upcoming series starting from August 20, 2017, then the West Indian Team will give them the hard time through the decimal points in rankings. It will only be possible if the West Indian team wins their all 6 upcoming matches before September 30. A defeat against the weak Ireland team will rule them out from the direct qualification process to the World Cup 2019.

The performance of Sri Lankan ODI team is not encouraging:

Sri Lankan’s are facing a tough time in the ODI team after the retirement of Sangakkara and Jayawardena. They lost the series against 11 ranked Zimbabwe team by 3-2 recently in July. They have lost their 10 battles even on their home grounds. Facing the strong Indian team is quite fierce. India has whitewashed Sri Lankan in test match series by 3-0. They are really down in cricket nowadays and have to find the young talent from their country as the Pakistan team have found in names of Shadab, Babar, Hassan and Imad Wasim.

West Indian ODI’s performance is also not on the peak. They are also down when it comes to ODI cricket. Currently, all the players are busy in playing CPL and other county cricket. Surely, this will benefit their players as they are playing with the top star cricketers of the world.

This series is going to be very crucial for the Sri Lankan team to make their presence in world cup 2019 with direct qualify. If they don’t qualify directly, then they have to face a tough situation in qualify stages as all other teams are preparing hard for it. So, just stay tuned here for all the cricket news. The series is going to start from August 20, 2017. Support your Sri Lankan team with your prayers as they need them in a hard time.
